Experienced Wholesale Development Manager

At East One Coffee Roasters we have continued to safely buy, roast and serve some of NYC’s best coffee during this trying time. In addition, we have through our kitchens continued to not only serve our communities (which we feel so privileged to be a part of), but to support our Front Line workers at several NYC based hospitals with our participation in the Heroes program making coffee and food deliveries several days per week.

The Role: East One Coffee Roasters is an intentional coffee roasting company with both food and retail arms. As a coffee obsessed company, East One Coffee Roasters is looking to develop a varied base of wholesale partners including cafes, offices, workspaces, restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores.

The key purpose of this role is to develop our brand familiarity within the industry and to further attract, manage and grow our wholesale network by fostering meaningful and positive relationships. As a small growing brand, the development of an extensive product knowledge base and openly participating with our close service, education, and production team will also be key. The Wholesale Development Manager will target growth especially with partners that are a symbiotic fit with the East One brand and culture.

Success benchmarks will include:

• Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of East One’s coffee range, equipment opportunities and pricing structures
• Be comfortable and proficient at communicating professionally with wholesale partners at all levels. Including barista, manager, executive, and ownership level
• A positive, creative, thoughtful, and thorough person, setting a high standard for the team you work with and a steadfastly upbeat tone for current and potential wholesale partners
• Work closely with and participate in the coffee production, education and marketing team to support sales growth across all coffee products
• Efficient and timely use of email, calendar, and CRM tools to conduct daily business activities
• Be comfortable and skillful negotiating price and other variables while also exhibiting the ability to oversee the entire process from the initial contact to the onboarding of new accounts
• Forecast and target new business opportunities to meet self generated and agreed targets and goals
• Maintain a flexible schedule allowing for weekend and after-hours work and participation in special events
• Generate new leads for prospective accounts continuously through both cold calling as well as your detailed knowledge of the industry and its key players
• Candidly evaluate the viability of partners from a reputational, financial and future growth opportunity perspective
• Oversee all aspects of wholesale partnerships including order coordination, ensuring timely invoice payment, and distribution of marketing materials
• Coordinate cuppings at our roastery and shops in coordination with production team and prospective partners as well as general public
• Regularly check in and conduct quality control visits, supporting the standards that are East One.

A successful candidate will have the following:

• 2+ years of similar and documented successful experience in a similar role – or a strong coffee background including knowledge of differences in processing, roast profiles, origins, operations and an intense drive to do what it takes to succeed in this role.
• The ability to create and achieve goals as set and agreed with Directors
• Knowledge of the specific needs of restaurant and hospitality operators
• Knowledge of the specific needs of offices and community work spaces
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management skills
• Willingness to travel – this position will require regular travel around NYC and ultimately the larger NE Coast region to visit current and potential partners
• Strong computer skills
