Black Lab Cafe is looking for a head barista who is as passionate about coffee and customer service as we are! This is a full-time, leadership position, which requires expert-level barista knowledge and abilities, as well as, superior customer service. This person should also be comfortable working with management in implementing menu changes; training staff, and ensuring best practices are consistently followed throughout the shift. Open availability required.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with staff to create an excellent customer service experience. (Warm greetings, efficient service, menu knowledge, POS systems, etc.)
Making and serving high quality coffee and tea based beverages.
Helping to create signature drinks. (Preparing any house-made ingredients.)
Training staff in general protocols and standardized recipe execution.
Maintaining stock of daily use items and ingredients.
Calibrating brewing equipment as needed.
Complying with cleanliness, health, and safety regulations.
Communicating regularly with management regarding inventory, suggestions, issues, and happenings of the day.

Skills

3+ Years NYC Barista Experience.
Advanced knowledge of brewing equipment and techniques.
Advanced knowledge of coffees and teas.
Basic food and allergen knowledge.
Basic wine and beer knowledge.
DoH and DoL compliance.
Basic math skills.
Excellent communication skills.
High school diploma; relevant training is a plus.

Job Types: Full-time.

Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour + Tips
