The Role
We’re looking for a Lead Barista to join Apartment Ra’el — a small, independently run concept store in Bed-Stuy — someone with a strong foundation in hospitality and a genuine interest in being part of a growing, hands-on team.

This role is for someone who is not only passionate about coffee, design, and community, but who is excited by the process of building. You’ll play a key part in shaping our coffee program from the ground up — from developing signature drinks to defining the rhythm and feeling of the coffee experience within the space.

What You’ll Do
– Lead daily bar operations with consistency, care, and attention to detail
– Create and test new seasonal and signature drink recipes
– Maintain coffee quality standards and train team members
– Ensure the bar area remains clean, organized, and visually in tune with the space
– Collaborate with the founder and creative team to align the café experience with the brand’s aesthetic and values
– Engage with guests and foster a warm, welcoming environment
– Train new teammates

You Are
– An experienced barista (2+ years) with strong espresso and matcha skills
– Passionate about coffee culture, design, and hospitality
– Creative, curious, and excited about recipe development
– Organized, dependable, and confident leading a small team
– Thoughtful in your approach — both with coffee and people
