Seeking Experienced Head Barista/Trainer/Supervisor at NYC Café

Blank Slate is a brand new upscale coffee shop and café in the NoMad neighborhood of New York City. We are seeking a rockstar HEAD BARISTA to help develop and oversee our coffee program.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for all things coffee and a desire to help build a strong and innovative coffee offering. This position would be as a trainer and operator that sets the standards for all products related to the coffee and tea program. We are seeking a coffee artist with leadership qualities and a keen interest in the business side of the industry. The roles requires an individual who is willing to be challenged with the task of producing specialty standard coffee in a café environment.

Requirements:

-Minimum 4 years experience as a barista with all prerequisite expertise and training

-Makes GREAT coffee

-A superior handle on steps of service and procedure

-A friendly and professional disposition

-Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment

-Computer proficiency / experience with POS systems

-Ability to instruct and teach all bar staff with enthusiasm and passion

-Ability to cost out coffee menus and set goals for cost of goods

-Team player attitude and willingness to help out in all aspects when necessary

-A love for people interaction and HOSPITALITY!

Role:

-Part time or full time – work varied hours/days based on business needs

-Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs

-Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu and answering questions

-Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks

-Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs

-Improves quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar

-Enhances shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
