Full-Time Head Brewer Apprentice
Job Description
As the Brewer’s Apprentice you will work directly with the Head Brewer on a daily basis, grinding spices, prepping and calibrating equipment, batching, brewing and filling the DONA line of spice based beverages. You will learn about our recipes and process, and work towards a complete understanding of all the equipment and processes involved in producing our line of spice based beverages. The desired outcome is that the Brewer’s Apprentice masters all of the nuance and responsibilities of the role within 3-6 months and moves into a Head Brewer position, working alongside Production Manager and Directors of Operations.
This is a growth opportunity role. The intent is to develop the Brewery Apprentice into a Head Brewer/Production Manager position.
Experience:
1-2 years experience working in brewing, food and beverage manufacturing, commercial food production facility/warehouse, or high volume restaurant kitchens.
Role Requirements:
Understanding of Food Safety standards -NY food safety certification required
Mechanically inclined.
Forklift Licence (not required, but a big plus)
Strong communication skills, ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Familiarity with quality control and quality assurance techniques and methods.
Familiar with Food Safety, HACCP, FSMA,GMP philosophy and practice.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds
Comfortable working on feet for extended periods of time
Comfortable getting sweaty, dirty, and wet at work
Strong written and verbal skills
Effective Time management skills
Strong math skills
Attention to detail
Ability to adapt and innovate under pressure.
“First one in, last one out” work mentality.
Ability to self motivate and work independently.
And, Work well within a team.
Basic computer knowledge is a must, competency in google docs a must.
Role responsibilities:
Grinding Spices
Batching ingredients accurately.
Maintaining and Setting up equipment and tools accurately for successful brewing.
Food safety and Quality Control
Maintaining fidelity to the production schedule, eventually helping to manage the production schedule.
Ingredient and packaging inventory management
Ordering and arranging delivery of all ingredients and non food inputs.
Cleaning and maintenance of brewing equipment and tools. Manage and actively participate in maintaining a clean and safe work environment – work with the Director of Operations to assure machines and equipment are working and spare parts are replaced when used.
Manage and complete daily checklists including Food Safety documentation.
Make sure records are logged correctly and are up to date.
Assure production area is clean and in a safe working condition daily
Working on the Filling line with the Operations Team.
Assuring all orders are fulfilled in a timely manner, and a high quality product is delivered to customers on time.
General Facility maintenance and upkeep.
Troubleshooting technical and mechanical issues throughout the production and operations process to maintain smooth operations.
Innovation and attention to constantly improving processes.
