Brownsville Roasters is looking for a Head Coffee Roaster to source, buy, roast and train our staff.

There’s a story behind each of our coffees – from the beans of the Gayo women’s cooperative in Sumatra to the coffee we brought back from our trip to the Guatemalan highlands this winter.

To unlock the unique flavors of each origin, we roast most of our coffees to the lighter side. This gives you a distinct flavor profile with fruitier notes and brighter acidity than what you would find in traditional dark-roasted coffee.

As our Head Coffee Roaster, you will be:

• Source green beans from vendors based on uniqueness, price and demand.
• Roast coffee for the current customers and restaurants within the group.
• Travel to meet farmers to ensure quality and correct practices.
• Train our baristas and staff on the product, barista skills and customer service.
• Visiting customers and ensuring their staff is well versed in our product and brewing techniques.
• Assisting in interviewing, hiring and training new staff in our own venues.
• Giving classes and talks on coffee as part of our programming.

You Are:

• Very experienced in coffee roasting, sourcing, buying, importing and distributing.
• Eager to participate in competitions, trade shows and conferences.
• Passionate about teaching, mentoring and growing people.
• Patient and ambitious to teach and inspire people on all levels.
• Passionate about social development through the food industry.
• Systematic, punctual and a friendly addition to our management team.
• Looking for a long career with a company that takes care of its managers and employees.
