In-Store Trainer

In-store trainers lead our baristas in upholding quality control standards. The role includes overseeing the on-boarding of new baristas and preparing them for bar certification, as well as continuing skill development on bar. This position reports directly to the store manager. In partnership with the management team, trainers will assist in the training of team members on cafe operations, coffee knowledge, brewing, and proper handling of equipment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency as a barista within the Specialty Coffee industry. They must be responsible, punctual, self-motivated, have respect for their role, and work well with others. Candidates should relate to people of all backgrounds and abilities, and have a prominent interest and passion for coffee.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have open availability and a willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
At least two years experience as a barista in a high volume specialty coffee environment
Outstanding customer service skills and ability to deliver a hospitable experience to our trainees and guests
Effective verbal and written communicator, capable of receiving/delivering both positive and constructive feedback.
Demonstrated capacity for training and educating others
Excellent interpersonal and mentorship skills
Preference will be given to those NYS Food Handler’s license; obtaining a license within 30 days of hire will be a requirement of the position
Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated passion and understanding of coffee knowledge and service, including advanced coffee theory and extraction principles, taste and palate development, milk and latte art, competition experience, etc.
Must Complete Intermediate and Advanced coffee education curriculum, upon roll-out
The position will be reviewed every 90 days for the first year.
Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
