Lead Barista — La Mestiza
Fort Greene, Brooklyn | Full-time | 20-22/hour + tips

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced, detail-oriented barista who cares deeply about coffee, hospitality, and consistency. You should be comfortable working in a manual coffee environment, maintaining high standards during busy service, and contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture.

Daily tasks
Keeping track of inventory and minimizing waste
Regular prep, such as cold brew, syrups, batched drinks as needed
Overall cleanliness and maintenance of the espresso bar and machine
Knowledge of Department of Health rules to maintain proper standards
General contributions to bakery operations – flexibility, comfort taking orders, working as a team
Flipping the record in our record player as needed 🙂

Experience
At least 2 years of barista experience in a specialty coffee environment
Experience dialing in espresso and using a manual espresso machine while maintaining quality and precise specifications.
DOH Food Handler’s License is a plus.

Skills
Proficiency using scales and measuring espresso shots to maintain consistency and quality.
Skilled in milk steaming and latte art.
Able to maintain speed, accuracy, and quality during busy service.
Strong customer service skills and a genuine interest in making guests feel welcome.
Spanish language skills are a major plus.

Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring a consistent commitment to all four scheduled days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
Shifts run from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with meal breaks accounted for within the scheduled shift. Our initial operating schedule is four days per week, with additional operating days planned as La Mestiza grows.
Candidates must be available to work all four days consistently.

Compensation
$20-$22 per hour, plus tips.
