Job Description

CORNER SLICE is a small neighborhood bakery to be located inside Gotham West Market in Hell’s Kitchen. Our focus is on producing and serving the best baked goods, pizza, and coffee possible. We make all our food from scratch daily, and have a rotating menu of seasonally influenced offerings. We work hard to create a fun workplace that promotes personal and professional growth.

It is our goal to offer serious yet approachable coffee service to go along with our food – without ego or pretense. Think your favorite diner, but with quality coffee.  We will be featuring coffee from La Colombe and tea from In Pursuit of Tea. We have invested in serious equipment including a 3 group LA Marzocco Linea PB, Nuova Simonelli Mythos Grinders, and a Mahlkonig EK43. We want to offer the best coffee experience possible and a complete coffee and food experience for our guests.

We are looking for friendly and hard-working Lead Baristas to join our team for a January 2017 opening.

THE JOB:

The job would begin a few weeks before opening and is an opportunity to help lead a small crew using top-end equipment in a high volume environment. You will be working directly with the Chef/Owner and have the chance to directly contribute to our offerings. In addition, you will aid in cafe operations including:

– Build Corner Slice Culture

– Assist in staff training

– Contribute to curation of beverage list

– Contribute to drink recipe development

– Be sanitation obsessed, earning and maintaining DOH ‘A’ rating

CANDIDATES MUST POSSES:

A passion for hospitality and solid knowledge of food and beverage

Previous experience in specialty coffee using manual espresso machines

Proven ability to lead and positively influence others with a “lead by example” mentality

Flexible Schedule

Food Handlers License or ability to get one quickly

**Above all else candidates must possess a good attitude and willingness to learn!**

COMPENSATION:

$14 per hour plus tips
