A unique opportunity for a highly experienced & skilled lead barista to grow into our coffee manager position to lead our specialty coffee program and be a key part of our leadership team at our busy café in downtown Jersey City. We are looking for a star with previous manager experience at a busy cafe who has managed people, lead a team and a successful specialty coffee program. The successful candidate will be an outstanding lead barista in their own right and work on bar , be people focused, team oriented, customer focused , hold high standards , lead by example and be a highly effective communicator.

Responsibilities

Lead the specialty coffee program at Maggie’s Farm Espresso by continually elevating the quality of our coffee program

Manage our team of baristas to meet adhere to the quality and consistency of our coffee program

Work approx 40 hours of lead barista shifts while being the coffee manager

Consistently perform and produce excellent quality espresso beverages efficiently including great latte art

Demonstrate passion for personalized customer service and developing strong relationships with customers & staff

Be a key part of our existing management team and be responsible for the coffee function

Attend weekly management calls on overall café performance and provide updates on the coffee function

Train new baristas

Maintain a safe clean working environment compliant with dept. of health

Opportunity to enhance coffee program, work with roasters, change coffee menu to enhance overall program and experience

Tasks such as setup, cleanup and breakdown

Manage inventory and replenishment, prep area, tools and equipment

Be able to be a team player and help out as cashier or running food or doing dishes as needed

Requirements
Team Player, positive attitude, ability to make great coffee but also serve customers, clean up & assist all areas of café

Extensive experience managing a coffee program previously

Minimum of 3 year experience in specialty coffee service

NJ or NY Food handler’s license (preferred) but not required
Must present well, can do attitude and thrive in fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
Basic math and written communication skills
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position (lift up to 50lbs) and use hands repetitively for pushing, pulling and fine manipulation

Compensation Details
Compensation: Hourly ($18.00 – $22.00) plus tips

Estimated Weekly Tips: $200
