The Drop is a specialty coffee shop and roastery opening in the Financial District. With a Bellwether Roaster right in the shop, we’re trying to integrate two facets of our business as seamlessly as possible. We are looking for an experienced Barista to work alongside our management team to help create an amazing experience for our guests.

The Lead Barista at The Drop works with the Director of Coffee to uphold cafe standards and support quality control and training efforts within the shop. The Lead Barista should have an intuitive attention to detail, and be committed to leading by example. This is an excellent role for somebody that is interested in delving into the QC and roasting side of the coffee industry since we’ll be working directly with the coffee that we’re roasting.

Responsibilities include:
-Supporting training through introducing new hires to store operations, and working with staff to ensure cafe standards are being met
-Perform grinder cleanings, filter changes, and light espresso machine equipment maintenance
-QC batch brew and pour over coffees daily, making adjustments as needed
-Attend weekly filter & espresso QC sessions with Director of Coffee
-Help drive passion and excitement for coffee within the cafe
-Perform end of day deposits and cash drops

Requirements:
2+ years barista experience
Ability to regularly lift 50lbs
NYS Food Handler’s license
Open availability, including weekends
An enthusiasm for service & hospitality
A desire to learn and collaborate in a supportive environment
Experience performing light equipment maintenance, or a willingness to learn

Preferred, but not required:
Experience managing cash drawers
Experience managing cafe inventory and placing supply orders

Compensation is hourly + tips. Full-time employees are eligible for company benefits after 90 days of work.
