Job Description

Our Baristas are meticulous about coffee, love good bread, have a passion for food and care about people. This integral role leads the guest experience; from taking orders, managing transactions (including cash), expediting food orders, making drinks and assisting with retail receiving and inventory.

A&C Super is a bakery, deli and grocery corner store. In addition to serving our neighbors delicious food and drink, we believe in the personal and professional growth of our team and work to reduce / divert waste so we can try and bring a brighter future for the next generations.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepares coffee, cold brew, espresso drinks, teas and batches to the specifications of A&C Super.
• Provides warm welcomes and genuine hospitality to all guests.
• Anticipates guests’ needs, questions and regular orders.
• Provides accurate product information and maintains a working knowledge of the coffee, deli and bakery menus.
• Takes accurate orders and prioritizes clear communication with the team and guests when there are changes and errors.
• Handles cash responsibly and honestly.
• Sets up the register and coffee station each morning, maintaining a complete stock of paper goods and beverage products.
• Keeps a clean and organized station and storefront at all times.
• Performs daily checks and maintains all food safety measures to the standards of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
• Completes opening and closing sideworks, including stocking retail product, drink recipe prep, inventory management and equipment cleaning.
• Dials in the espresso machine each morning and makes adjustments throughout the day to maintain great-tasting espresso.
• Breaks down and cleans the espresso machine at the end of each day.
• Cleans the coffee brewers, matcha pieces, bottles and containers.
• Assist with receiving, stocking and managing retail inventory.
• Sort waste, recycling and organic waste / compost into the correct bins.
• Collaborate with and support all team members to improve service, efficiency and a positive work environment for all to thrive.
• Trains new team members and works to build organized systems for quality and efficiency.

Job Qualifications

• Preferably one (1) year of experience in a busy coffee shop
• Early morning and weekend availability
• Organized with the ability to multitask
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written
• Self-motivated
• A strong team player that supports and anticipates the needs of service
• Genuine hospitality and the desire to make people happy
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to safely and effectively operate coffee equipment
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to operate a POS system and cash register
• Ability to lift 40 lbs up and down stairs
• High school diploma or GED

Compensation

• Starting at $18 per hour with tips
