Head / Lead Barista 

Gotan is looking for its new location in Midtown West a Lead Barista that has extensive espresso/coffee knowledge including understanding the art and science behind pulling a “perfect” shot, “dialing” in, different brewing methods, and quality control of the drinks according to our guidelines. We will be offering the finest coffee by Counter Culture Coffee. Our Lead Barista will be responsible for rotating and purchasing coffee and espresso beans accordingly as well as retail items for our guests. Most important the lead barista is the LEAD of the coffee program in the Midtown Location … as such he or she should be have extensive coffee knowledge and passion!

Requirements:

• Must have at least 3 years of experience in a third wave-esque coffee shop
• Purchasing experience for a retail coffee shop
• Managing skills to oversee at least 6 baristas
• Exceptional hospitality and communication skills
• Friendly “yes” attitude and strong work ethic
• NYC Food Handler’s License is preferred.
• Attention to detail and to cleanliness of the bar
• Extensive latte art craftsmanship
• Master of all brewing methods (V-60, Chemex, Aeropress, Cold brew)
