Café Kitsuné New York is looking for a new fox to join the family!
We are hiring a MAITRE D’ and/or SOMMELIER to run the front of the house for our first NYC location.
Café Kitsuné pays tribute to the pleasure of enjoying a quality coffee in iconic locations, currently Tokyo’s Aoyama district and Paris’ gardens of the Palais Royal. Loyal to its origins, Café Kitsuné’s menu also offers in addition to coffee, French-Japanese specialties. Five years after its creation, Café Kitsuné successfully launched a collection of tableware, ready-to-wear and accessories.
The Maitre D’ and/or Sommelier is responsible for leading the guest experience at Café Kitsuné’s NYC restaurant, taking on responsibilities including but not limited to:
Lead the front of house team and ensure excellent customer experience for guests that results in return visits.
Hire and train hourly FOH staff, including servers, bussers and baristas.
Create and develop a dynamic and interesting natural wine program at the restaurant.
Communicate with supervisors/leadership team to maintain consistent practices and secure policy and procedure. Communicate restaurant goals to team effectively and motivates others.
Along with external culinary marketing agency, seek to grow customer base and increase store traffic by collaborating on promotions within and outside the store as well as maintaining functional, efficient, pleasant restaurant environment and high-quality food and beverage offerings.
Lead and model overall culture, values, mission, and spirit of the company. Is knowledgeable about the ideals and principles of Café Kitsuné and ensures that our story is appropriately conveyed by staff and store environment.
Helps to create positive, enthusiastic, and well-trained restaurant culture by providing an informed, honest, and optimistic example for the team.
Responds appropriately to ideas, concerns, complaints, and comments from management and staff.
Models proper attendance, punctuality, customer service, and overall attitude.
Ensures store appearance is maintained at all times, including café seating area,condiment bar, and FOH/BOH.
The position is based in NYC, and will report directly to the General Manager, working in close collaboration with supporting corporate departments in Paris.

Desired Skills & Experience:
2-3 years in restaurant management
Strong network in New York City
Strong knowledge of natural wine
Leadership skills and team building proficiencies
Ability to motivate people to achieve objectives
Supreme commitment to customer service
Fashion industry / commercial awareness
Flexible working retail hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
Food handlers permit
Start date: Fall 2019

Salary:
Competitive full-time salary commensurate based on experience
