Job Description
Baristas On Tap is an app-based service that gives shops access to highly skilled baristas available to cover shifts within the specialty coffee industry. Launched in late 2017 in London the service has since expanded to cover the UK and Ireland.
Our mission with Baristas On Tap has always been to increase accessibility to highly trained staff at a moment’s notice whilst improving the quality of living for baristas in the specialty coffee industry.
At Baristas On Tap we believe that due to the training and experience required, being a barista is a skilled trade and should therefore be paid – at the very least – a living wage.
Baristas On Tap is a small business with a close-knit team of four who manage every single thing we do. Looking after the UK and Ireland is Izzy and Sujan, handling all app development is Australia-based Yin, while in New York we have Jennifer and Joshua. What started with Joshua doing every barista shift he could in 2017 has grown into a dedicated team in 2023 managing an average 4,500 hours of barista coverage each week across the UK and Ireland.
We are now looking to add one more person to our team to help build our service here in the US. It is important the values that gave us relevance in the UK (from a living wage as minimum, to guaranteed wages on time every time etc) are carried over to benefit the industry here and as such any new member of the team will be instrumental in tailoring this service to fit the local and national specialty coffee industry.
The role itself is nice and straight forward, as an operations manager you will be responsible for the following;
– Attracting baristas to the platform and approving each one through our current approval system.
– Facilitate bookings made by customers to ensure no shift goes unfilled and no coffee goes unmade.
– Work alongside the team in the UK and in Australia to constantly improve and fine-tune the app and the service.
