Full-Time Operations Manager for Boris & Horton, a Dog Friendly Cafe
Job Description
Boris & Horton, New York’s first dog friendly coffee shop and community space, seeks an Operations Manager for our first location in the East Village.
In cooperation with the Department of Health, Boris & Horton will serve coffee and snacks in a dog friendly environment. The coffee bar will be glassed in with double doors leading to the dog side, which will feature café style seating and upscale pet products.
We have a lifelong passion for animal rescue so Boris & Horton will be a hub for adoption events and fundraisers.The company is well funded by seasoned entrepreneurs. This is a high profile opportunity with upside career opportunities as the company expands with other locations.
Construction is underway and our coffee partner is confirmed so now it’s time to bring on a rockstar Operations Manager! Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Ensure that the store is ready for launch including setting up back-end systems, developing relationships with suppliers and managing orders
-Handle all matters related to recruiting, hiring, mentoring, scheduling and performance management-Manage and supervise teams on both the coffee and dog-friendly sides of the shop
-Be attentive to all aspects of the guest experience as needed to ensure excellence
-Ensure the planning and execution of established safety, security and quality standards, policies and procedures
-Work with coffee side staff on menu planning and sourcing- this includes light bites and ever-changing specialty beverages
-Hold team accountable for achieving goals and maintaining high level of service and excellence
Qualifications and Personal traits:
-3+ years experience in food & beverage
-Passion for high-end food and coffee and a strong sense of customer service
-A genuine and upbeat personality- we’ll serve our coffee with a smile!
-Proven success in a fast-paced work environment, ability to multitask and thrive in an open office environment
-Self-motivated, proactive, and organized, you should be able to prioritize and be adept at working independently as well as in a team
-Ability and passion for problem solving, must think quickly and adapt to last minute changes of direction and tight deadlines
-Flexible schedule, collaborative spirit, and willingness to pitch in on a wide variety of tasks with a no job too big or small attitude
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Strong computer skills- part of you’re job will be to source and set up our PoS system and assist with inventory
-NYC DOH Food Protection Certification
