Variety Coffee Roasters is a New York specialty coffee company founded in 2008 as a single cafe, and today roasting and serving our coffee at 9 of our own shops across NYC, as well with dynamic wholesale partners large and small. The Production Assistant is part of the team responsible for the production and timely delivery of all products that Variety Coffee Roasters sells, including bagging, boxing, picking orders, packaging for mail order, as well as brewing, bottling and kegging cold brew. The production assistant will also help maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of the roastery and periodically fill in on delivery driving to our wholesale customers.

Key to this role is the ability to quickly learn and closely follow Variety’s standard operating procedures on production. We’re looking for someone reliable who has a keen attention to detail and process, an appreciation for delicious coffee, and a nice even keel to join our team.

This is a part-time, hourly position averaging 24 hours per week and reporting to the production leadership team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Fulfillment of wholesale and ecommerce orders
• Compliance with methods of packing and task tracking introduced by Production Lead
• Cold brew production assistance
• Cleaning, maintaining, and organizing roasting facility
• Interacting with basic technology such as G suite and production management software
• Support production team members as needed
• Occasionally assist with either hand-delivering coffee or driving the delivery van

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiarity with Specialty Coffee
• Experience with G-suit required
• General computer skills required
• Must be able lift 50+lbs regularly
• Active New York State driver’s license required
• Ability to work 8 hours a day (with breaks) standing on the warehouse floor

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
• Hourly rate of $23/hr
• Paid holidays + 40 hours of PTO after one year of employment
• Medical, vision and dental care coverage are offered beginning one month from hire with an employer contribution of 50%
