Job description:
Roasting coffee is at the core of what we do at Parlor and our production team is integral to making that possible. We are seeking a candidate to join our team full-time in the role of Production Roaster.

Core responsibilities:
– This position reports directly to the General Manager and the Director of Roasting and Quality Control
– Success in the role requires an unwavering attention to detail and commitment to roasting every batch in accordance with Parlor’s philosophy and style as set out by the Director of Roasting
– This necessitates the ability to follow and maintain roast profiles throughout every roast, and to do so while maintaining a pace of 4-5 roasts per hour throughout the 4-6 hour shift
– Commitment to quality control and developing a deep understanding of roasting, development, and profile management
– Ability to communicate effectively with all teammates and all departments the developments and changes in profiles, offerings, and blend components
– Meticulousness and attention to detail in data entry and the use of roasting programs such as Cropster Roasting Intelligence Program, et al
– Fulfillment of daily coffee orders both as a roaster and in assistance on the production floor, i.e. willing to work as a team in all aspects of production from roasting to fulfillment
– Assistance with green coffee handling – receiving, moving, organizing, weighing, maintaining inventory, etc
– Perform routine roaster cleaning, maintenance, and daily upkeep of the roastery and the roasting space
– Support and adhere to general upkeep and organization of the roastery, food safety, and general safety practices as set out by the General Manager

Qualifications:
– Demonstrated passion for specialty coffee, the industry, and in growing with the company
– Must have at least one year of experience as a production roaster, specifically in using a drum roaster
– Self-starting and highly motivated
– Kind and positive attitude, and a demonstrated willingness to take on new tasks and learn new skills as they become required
– An effective communicator and a willingness to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment
– Unwavering attention to detail and a hands-on approach to your work while being flexible and adaptive to the demands of the day
– Excellent time management skills – the ability to prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly tasks
– Basic technical skills and a willingness to learn equipment details, maintenance, and care
– Experience and familiarity with relevant software, i.e. Cropster Roasting Intelligence Program, Google Sheets, and other programs
– Able to work on your feet for long periods of time, specifically in front of a roaster for up to 6 hour shifts
– Observant of good working practices, food safety standards, and compliant with the policies and systems set out by the General Manager
– Able to carry, lift, handle up to 75 pounds; weight greater than 50 pounds will be mitigated with assistance from another team member
– Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment are provided
– Position is full-time, five days a week and will require morning, evening, and weekend shifts based upon volume and scheduling needs
