Full-Time Retail Trainer
Job Description
Position Summary
A BBCC retail trainer organizes, coordinates, designs, and conducts trainings primarily for retail locations, internal staff, and the general public. The retail trainer also conducts research and development projects to further enrich the training program as well as the collective knowledge of the company. A strong and diverse knowledge of coffee preparations is necessary for the position. Equally essential is the ability to communicate, organize, and adapt information for both the coffee professional and layperson.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong knowledge of espresso preparation and milk skills
- Conduct retail quality assurance check-ins
- Function as a barista at Blue Bottle retail locations and special events when needed
- Maintain up to date knowledge of all manner of brewing with our coffee
- Participate in developing wholesale and in-house training and educational materials
- Travel for extended periods to various areas of the country
- Organize and coordinate trainings for in-house baristas
- Collaborate with lead baristas for in-house location needs
- Conduct regularly scheduled trainings
- Maintain the training lab and cupping area
- Attend regular Training Department meetings
- Report regularly on in-house trainings
- Lead and report on production cuppings
- Organize research proposals
- Conduct research projects of varying scope
- Assist with wholesale trainings, scheduling, check-ins and training material compilation as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- 1 year retail and/or customer service experience required
- 1 year specialty coffee or equivalent experience required.
