Job Description

Milk & Pull is a black-owned coffee roasting company with three cafes located in Brooklyn and Queens, NY. We strive to create a warm, welcoming experience and believe that starts with the quality of coffee that is prepared at our shops. The Roaster/Coffee Program Manager will be responsible for helping us bring top quality coffee to each of our locations.

Responsibilities
Coordinate the purchase and delivery of green coffee and maintain current relationships with importing partners.

Carefully handle heavy machinery to complete the roasting and packaging of coffee

Sample roast, cup and record incoming green coffee lots to oversee quality of the coffee program.

Track inventory, expenses and operate within the budget for green coffee purchases.

Coordinate with the roasting facility to set weekly roasting schedules and organize deliveries.

Exercise creative freedom to build a coffee program that represents the brand and its values Plan and develop strategies to keep Milk & Pull relevant within the specialty coffee community.

Create enthusiasm for the brand by visiting the cafes and educating staff members on new offerings/recipe guidance.

Qualifications

A Self-starter who is happy to work alone and also within a team setting when needed.

Impeccable time management and planning skills.

A team player who wants to help educate customers and employees about Milk & Pull’s coffee philosophy.

2+ years experience in leadership roles that involve production management, roasting and quality control.

Knowledge of coffee producing origins, flavor profiles and coffee seasonality

2+ years experience roasting coffee using a commercial roaster (experience with Loring, a plus but not necessary)

Ability to carry/lift 50+ lbs

Standing for long periods at a time which includes traveling between the roastery and the cafes

Experience in setting up and leading cuppings according to specialty coffee standards.
