Variety Coffee Roasters is a New York specialty coffee company founded in 2008 as a single cafe, and today roasting and serving our coffee at 8 (and counting) of our own shops across the city, as well with over 100 dynamic wholesale partners. The Sales and Account Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining positive relationships with Variety’s active wholesale partners, as well as increasing sales among existing and new accounts. They are a hands-on educator, problem solver, and general consultant on all things coffee-related, as well as an active salesperson prospecting and capturing new business. Variety’s wholesale clients range from luxury hotels and Michelin starred restaurants to independent cafes and specialty grocery stores. The Sales and Account Manager advances our goal of creating a best-in-class coffee experience in every setting. This is a full time, salaried position reporting to the Director of Wholesale.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Sales:
• Build Variety’s accounts through outside sales activities, networking, cold outreach, and responding to any assigned inbound opportunities with urgency
• Research and target accounts that align with Variety’s strategic vision for wholesale growth
• Maximize sales of current book of accounts through ongoing account management
• Work with the Director of Wholesale to design packages and pricing that are competitive and in line with company standards
• Partner with Wholesale leadership on design and equipment placement of complex and sophisticated office and cafe buildouts
• Stay up to date and knowledgeable on Variety’s menu
Account Management:
• Conduct routine visits of 15 – 20 clients weekly ensuring Variety quality standards are met, diligently logging all interactions in our CRM within 48 hours of event
• Assure the on-time and accurate ordering of all customers assigned to the SAM using Variety’s ordering platform and via email, text or other forms of communication
• Follow up on receipt of customer payment within respective billing terms
• Conduct espresso, filtered coffee, pour-over, and cold brew training in lab or on-site at the client’s business.
• Program and dial-in coffee equipment in line with Variety’s recipes and quality standards
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, communicating between Variety’s technical team and customers to ensure timely and effective servicing of coffee equipment.
• Provide light preventative maintenance on coffee equipment i.e. changing screens, gaskets, etc.
• Participate in local and national marketing events, such as New York Coffee Festival and CoffeeFest, as well as staffing some company events
• Plan and execute tastings and demos at grocery accounts
• Spearhead and own the onboarding process of all new accounts assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Account and/or sales manager experience preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• A demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively
• Experience with Google Workspace and CRM’s
• Night and weekend work required for events, travel, and client needs
• Comfortable conducting account visits on foot, walking regularly, and occasionally lifting up to 50lbs
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Annual Salary of $70,000 + commission
80 hours paid time off per year plus 6 paid company holidays
80 hour paid bonding and family leave
