Espresso and Coffee Equipment Service Technician Trainee
Learn the specifics of coffee equipment service and repair with a customer-service focus.
This position will start on a trial period basis with potential to move into a salaried position which would include PTO, QSEHRA Health Benefit, Metro Benefit, 401K.

Job Description:
- Barista Knowledge: Dialing in a good shot of espresso.
- Self-Direction: Should be self-directing and able to shift gears day to day.
- Communication: Clear and consistent communication is important not only with clients but the entire KL5 Coffee team
- In Shop Service Technician Apprentice: Learn to repair, service, and problem-solve various specialty espresso and coffee equipment
- Equipment + Service Education: Work to create a foundational knowledge-base to service, repair, and problem-solve in new and various coffee machines, equipment, and parts.
- Creative Thinking Skills: This position will require someone that likes to have a variety of tasks, able to switch between tasks, can understand and work through and within systems, and can think and problem-solve creatively.
- Shop Organization: work with KL5 Coffee team to maintain and create sustainable parts and equipment organization systems that can grow with the company. This also includes organization to maintain the shop, your own tool bag and work bench.
- Customer-Facing Experience: Even if you have not had a job that would be considered “customer service” this position requires someone with a personality that allows for friendly, pleasant, professional interactions, KL5 Coffee has been built on its customer service and any one that accepts the position will be assisting in maintaining the reputation.
- Physical Knowledge: Candidates should know how to lift things. 50-70lbs machines will have to be moved, either through innate strength or knowing how to utilize leverage. Able to perform the following functions: Stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, pushing, standing, feeling, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, bending and repetitive motions.
Qualifications:
- Innate curiosity to want to figure out how things work
- Organized with a mind for figuring out systems (digital and physical)
- Strong communication skills
- Must be detail oriented – if read this, please put “I’m Special” in the subject line of your email
- Previous barista experience
- Strong (Did I say Strong, I meant Incredible) customer service skills
- Ability to read manuals, parts diagrams, and wiring schematics
- Communicate and work with tech services via in-person/phone/email to problem-solve
- A love of learning
- A love of coffee
- A desire to be part of a growing company.

Hourly Rate: $22 – $25 base on experience + MTA Reimbursement
Schedule: Monday – Friday / 10am – 6pm
