Our Team Lead is responsible for the overall success of our kiosk at the new Pier 57 James Beard food hall in Chelsea. This individual will ensure all our guests experience exceptional hospitality and will lead and inspire their team. We are seeking a motivated, detail oriented, and highly communicative Team Lead to oversee operations at our food hall kiosk in Chelsea. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and customer service, as well as leadership and management skills.
Local Roots is a minority, female owned small business that believes food can change the world. Our menu features Chinese homestyle dishes using local ingredients.
Responsibilities:
Upholding Team Members to Local Roots standards such as:
Dept of Health standards
Hospitality and Customer Service Standards
Food and beverage standards
Supervise and lead a team of approx 5 employees, including training, performance evaluations and touching base with the GM to confirm scheduling of employees
Manage inventory and ordering of supplies based on PARS
Make decisions on dish samples based on sales reports or items to promote
Collaborate with vendors and other food hall tenants to promote the kiosk and increase sales
Continually brainstorm ways to increase sales and improve operations in collaboration with Local Roots CEO
Assist in foh and boh at the Local Roots kiosk – you’ll be delegating tasks to your team while also jumping in where needed
Ensure quality and integrity of the food
Requirements:
At least 2 years of experience in a food service and 6 months in hospitality leadership role
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High emotional intelligence
Strong leadership and management skills
Enthusiasm to build team camaraderie and help guide your team members in their career
Knowledge of health and safety regulations
Experienced in the kitchen
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Fill in shifts when needed
Ability to problem solve quickly in fast paced settings while also delegating tasks to staff during slow moments

Timeline, Compensation, and Benefits
This position is paid a starting rate of $20-22/hour based on experience plus tips
$600 joining bonus after 6 months
40-hours paid vacation (begins after 190 days of employment)
40-hours accrued Sick Time
30-minute paid lunch breaks, five days a week
This position enjoys a daily comped entrée ($16 of value) and unlimited coffee and tea from the Market & Cafe
This position enjoys a 20% discount on any items at the Market + Cafe and the Local Roots Harvest Club
