Job Description

Devocion is the only exclusive farm to cup roaster in the world. All of our green beans are sourced from Colombia and arrive from the dry mill to our Roastery located in Brooklyn in an average of 10 days.  Our current education program includes extensive training for our wholesale partners and growing retail staff. We are looking for a trainer to help maintain quality control within our wholesale partner network.  This position require traveling throughout New York City with the possibility of  traveling outside of New York State.

Our ideal trainer:

• approaches all opportunities with a positive attitude and thrives in a public speaking environment.
• Works to develop their palate and has previous experience in cupping coffee.
• Attends events within the coffee community and is attentive of new developments within the coffee industry.
• Must be a great team player and communicate effectively with team members.
• Uses logic and palate development to dial-in coffees and teach basic techniques to baristas of varying experience levels.
• has basic knowledge on equipment maintenance including (but not limited to): grinder calibration, batch brewing calibration, gasket replacement and proper cleaning of bar equipment.
• Performs well under pressure and excels in troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Assisting and participating in cuppings
• Attending and working events.
• Conduct training sessions and educate baristas on proper bar flow management, drink construction and general coffee knowledge.
• Traveling to wholesale partners to conduct on site training sessions and quality evaluations.
