Driftaway Coffee is a BIPOC woman-led small-batch coffee roastery based in Brooklyn, sourcing coffee from smallholder farmers around the world. We are working to build an equitable value chain by prioritizing women & minority producers, and want to make coffee accessible and fun for all.

Founded in 2014 and initially focused on direct to consumer, Driftaway Coffee has grown rapidly over the years and expanded into gifting and virtual education. We are well-funded by our customers, and have been covered in various press and media like The Today Show, WSJ, Gear Patrol, Strategist, and Inc. magazine.

We are currently seeking an experienced and charismatic specialty coffee professional (full-time) as a Wholesale Sales Representative. This role will be full time, in-person in New York City on a Monday to Friday schedule, and occasional weekend events. The Wholesale Sales Representative manages customer experience across cafe and food service channels. This is an opportunity to build a channel from the ground up. This role will require you to build new wholesale partnerships and manage your accounts on an ongoing basis for all of their coffee and service needs.

Responsibilities
– Develop, follow up with, and sign on new wholesale accounts for coffee sales
– Execute sales prospecting, pipeline development, and lead management activities to identify, qualify, and close independent wholesale opportunities via emails, phone and in person
– Field inbound leads, qualify and develop them
– Collaborate with team members to build and execute wholesale target market strategy based on Driftaway’s unique strengths and differentiators
– Lead and partake in trade shows like Coffee Fest, SCA Expo, NY Coffee Festival, Fancy Food Show etc
– Provide ongoing customer feedback to inform broader business decisions
– Work closely with roasting and production team to develop new products based on customer requirements
– Participate in team cuppings to stay in touch with current coffees
– Interface with technology and customer service teams to build and optimize order management software services as well as address customer concerns

Requirements
– 2 – 4 years sales experience in the hospitality, business to business sales, or coffee industry – fine dining, specialty coffee, or food service
– Background in sales, distribution, food service is ideal – either in specialty coffee or adjacent an food industry
– Fast-moving, detail-oriented and methodical
– Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of internal and external contacts
– Understand CRM concepts and use extensively for lead management
– Quantitative (basic math, excel) skills that enable you to create and track metrics and understand what meaningful metrics say about performance
– Communication skills: Clear, concise written and spoken English
– Manage time effectively with limited supervision; well-organized and detail-oriented
– Occasionally work non-traditional hours and weekends and assist lifting, moving, and/or carrying coffee equipment
– Valid driver’s license and ability to drive in NYC and surrounding areas

Role Type and Compensation
– Full-time salaried
– Competitive salary and full benefits, with commission based on experience
– Work from Driftaway roastery and office based in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn
– Start date ASAP no later than May 1 2024
